16 Page publication Creating the illustrations

For my book i wanted to look at a more illustrative approach to my designs because i felt the bikes would look really strong as a vector illustration stemming from my research. I selected bikes that i could use to create the illustration for each category. These bikes are shown below.

Creating the illustrations

I firstly started with the tyres so i could get the size of the bike.

Next using the pen tool i drew in the lines for the frame of the bike, changing the weight of the frame i made it the correct size.

i then did the same for the spokes.

I made sure the cap and corners were set as shown below for all the strokes

The final bike shown below.

The other bikes i created using the images

Bike event studio brief 2

Responding to the feedback you received, you should develop and produce a range of responses relating to a minimum of two of the following areas of design:
Publishing & Editorial
Information & Way-finding
Branding & Identity
Product & Packaging
Retail & Promotion
Your work should practically and conceptually explore the possible products, ranges and methods of distribution that you have investigated and analysed in your primary and secondary research. Your work should also reflect your own creative ambitions within graphic design as well as being focused towards your chosen audience.

Background and considerations
You should consider working across a broad range of media and formats that are appropriate to your subject and your development as a graphic designer.  Your response should explore the relationship between the product, range and potential methods of distribution, whilst also analysing context, audience and tone of voice.
You need to ensure that you analyse and critically evaluate the impact of social, cultural, technological and/or ethical concerns with regards to your design solutions.  Additionally, you are required to demonstrate your understanding of the limitations and the potential of technologies and processes used in the production of design for 2d, 3d and 4d distribution.
Your content should explore and apply a range of appropriate practical and conceptual approaches as well as being technically competent and contextually appropriate.  Your resolutions should demonstrate an informed understanding of issues relating to media, communication, audience and function.

To start off with i started to think about different ideas that i could do to do with a bike event because i knew that was what i wanted to create. There was some ideas that i thought were good such as having the event as a charity event so people would take part to raise money for there chosen charity, i also liked the idea of having different tracks for different skill levelled cyclists that would then go on to form the brand and identity of the event, also using neon colours would work really well for this because it relates well to cyclists because that is something they should be wearing (fluorescent). I also like how it is very relevant because of the Tour De France which is coming to Yorkshire.

After deciding on doing an event i thought for the printed materials i could create an event pack that would be for the contenders, something they get before the race, i like the idea of making something for them to be prepared for the event, like and event information and tool kit ect, then there is all the other things that are usually be used such as tickets to get into the event and an event pass when they are walking around. Another essential would be a map that helps to direct people around the event and also can be used on the tracks so they dont get lost but also gives them a number for safety reasons.

I want the event to use a strong colour system so it is different to any other event and also so it is easy to understand and everything comes across simply to the athletes and spectators.

Bare Munch, Take Away/Delivery Company

The Brief

To create a fast food delivery compnay logo that contained a bear using the imagery he gave me and then creating other collaterol.

Deliverables

2 logos that can be used across other material and other printed material.

Concept

To start i was given a image that is shown below to use to create the logo for him, so what i am going to do is make that logo for him but then do my own interpretation of it and what i think would look better because also gave me instructions on what colours to use. So i want to create a logo that can be used across a range of different printed material that is simple and playful.

Firstly creating this logo.

I firstly started by drawing round the 2 images i was given

I then coloured them in using colours he wanted me to use and put them together.

I then added the name of the company to give it some reference.

So this was the logo i did from the details he gave me and the timeframe given, as can been seen there wasn't much room for movement within the logo . So i did the best i could.
Given more time i started to work on another logo that i would give to him and show what it could look like.

The final logo

Mocked up vinyl logo that could be used on a window

After creating this logo shown above i felt i needed to create something else that he could use as a secondary logo that could be used across things like shop windows, leaflets, hand outs and wasn't just a circle.

Next i created those bits of information where i could use the logo above and the first logo i have shown.
