What is a concept?

For our studio task we had to choose
3 words from a jar

We chose a word from one jar then 2 form another.

We then selected a word that we would then have to develop a concept from. The word we selected was BAR

We then made a mind map of things we thought of for each of our words.

OUR MAIN IDEAS 
Sweet bar was our first main idea we thought it would provide a different experience to a normal sweat shop, having a bar and a conveyor belt. It would also have a recovery type room that people could come and chill, watch tv ect. 
Target audience - tourists , attraction, bar and sweet shop combined.

We then thought that maybe just having a hangover bar would be something a lot different to what there is nowadays.

After then having a discussion with Loraine she said that whats the difference between the hangover bar and the greasy cafe down the road, so we decided to make it into a double bar whereby people could come at night and they come in the morning or stay there overnight and relax and watch tv play ps3 ect.

TARGET AUDIENCE

To start we thought the target audience would be students, but there is obviously a lot fo students, all of whom like different things, so we changed it to an slightly older group of people, who aren't poor like students, we wanted to focus on the slightly more well off 25 to 30 year old who wanted to go to a bar/cocktail lounge and then wanted to attend the hangover bar the next day. 

MUSIC

For music Vicky wanted a mixtape set, something similar to Urban Outfitters, where it can appeal to large group of people but isnt so comercial where it will attract the wrong kind of people.

The music for the chill out hangover room would be the complete opposite to the main room, it would have chilled out relaxing music.

 For the logo i wanted to create something that represented the fact that there was 2 bars but also that it was a bit more classy than the standard bar.

i also designed the wrist band that Vicky came up with, where if somebody came to the bar they would buy this wrist band and it would gain them access to the hangover bar the next day.

Sadly we had to change the name because another group who had the same idea had the same name, so we looked for another word and found words that related to Remedy, we found the word 

   .PANACEA

 

OUR PRESENTATION-

We felt the word Panacea sounded like it could be a bar.

Poeple in the group thought the stars and the circle around the logo weren't necessary so we removed them and were left with this.

Jnae looked at interior design for what our double bar might look like.

We thought these were the best images, the inside looks frosted and so also relates back to words we looked at, window and frost. It is a quite modern and professional looking design.

This was is for the hangover bar, it is very relaxing and slightly quirky. 

After the presentation we received feedback:

• Consider audience - because we said it was for students but we did mention for hen parties to which kind of clashes.
• More concept for the bar i think it just needed all of our ideas to come together a bit more
• Also Refinement for the uniform because it wasn't appropriate for the night.
